Medtech. Using technology to prevent dental abscesses
ADENTIS has developed a prototype to prevent the development of a periapical lesion, also known as a dental abscess. This is a very common problem that, if not treated in time, will not only destroy the upper part of the tooth – the dentin and enamel – but also damage the lower part – which contains the pulp.
The prototype was built based on computer vision techniques such as transfer learning and data augmentation, to be able to classify the lesion present in the tooth.
This is another step taken by ADENTIS towards the development of health through its R&D area. In the last Medtech's episode, another solution was presented, this time for diagnosing Diabetic Retinopathy – an optic disease that manifests itself in people with diabetes and more severe conditions that can lead to blindness.
