We announce the development of the "Confirmation of Payee/Payer" feature for bank transfers, which allows verifying the account holder's name before finalizing the transaction. This project, part of the suggestions from the Bank of Portugal, is being extended to all transfers via home banking, banking apps, and direct debits since June 24, with gradual implementation until September. Additionally, it will be possible to make transfers using only the beneficiary's mobile phone number, a feature already available in the MBWay network.

According to the 2023 Payment Systems Report, this implementation will significantly reduce the risks of fraud.
